Attorney Mikayla Lewison
Bio
Mikayla believes in fostering a compassionate, holistic, and person-centered approach to client advocacy. She attended the University of Texas at Austin and received her Bachelor of Social Work with honors in 2019. As a student, Mikayla’s internships with a Justice of the Peace Court and a death penalty mitigation firm led her on the path to pursue a career in law.
After graduating from Texas, Mikayla worked as an intern at Palmer Perlstein while applying to law school. She earned her Juris Doctor from Saint Louis University School of Law (SLU) in May of 2023. While working towards her J.D., Mikayla was on the SLU Law Journal and served as the Childress Lecture Managing Editor for Volume 67. Mikayla also was a teaching assistant for the first-year Legal Research and Writing course, a notetaker for the Disability Resource Center, worked as a two-year faculty fellow, and worked as a student lawyer in the SLU Criminal Defense Clinic where she represented and argued on behalf of clients in Missouri state and federal court.
After receiving her J.D., Mikayla joined Palmer Perlstein as a criminal appellate lawyer working primarily on state (11.07 and 11.072) and federal (2255) writs of habeas corpus cases. Combining her social work degree, J.D., and her talent for research and writing, Mikayla is dedicated to crafting unique legal arguments to raise in writs in the hopes of bringing families’ loved ones home.
Outside of the office, Mikayla loves spending time with her family and friends.
