Speed Has Led To Numerous Car Accident Deaths On City Streets

peed limits on city streets are much less than they are on highways, and for good reason. The number of obstacles and distractions on city streets makes it far too dangerous for cars to be moving above certain speeds. However, that does not stop some drivers from speeding along Texas streets, which could cause a deadly car accident.

One such accident occurred late on a recent Monday night. Preliminary reports into the incident indicate that two vehicles were involved in the crash. The first vehicle was traveling at excessive speed on a city street. The driver of the second vehicle had no way of knowing that the vehicle was heading toward it.

Vehicle number one slammed into vehicle number two so hard that it rolled it onto its roof. A 40-year-old man in the second vehicle succumbed at the scene to the severe injuries he suffered in the crash. Four other people involved suffered unknown injuries and were taken to a hospital in the Houston area.

Residents in the area where the accident occurred report that drivers often ignore the speed limit signs and drive too fast in the area. One woman commented that the accident was preventable since all the driver had to do was slow down. Authorities provided no further details, and it is not yet known whether any charges will be filed against the driver of the first vehicle.

Regardless, the family of the deceased individual and any seriously injured victims retain the right to file civil actions against the speeding driver. Proving that person’s actions were negligent and led to the fatal or serious injuries suffered by the victims could lead to a Texas court awarding damages. Any restitution received from a monetary judgment could help with the financial burdens that inevitably arise from a serious car accident.
